Dane County Housing Statistics – Things Are Looking Up
Almost 6 months ago I posted that I thought we were transitioning towards a seller’s market. It turns out, I was right. I don’t think I’ve posted much since then about market statistics (or even informational blogs). Why, because we’ve been swamped, and these statistics will show you that.
According to the Wisconsin Realtors Association (WRA) Dane county home sales rose to 932 this July. There were 731 sales in July of 2012 and July of 2011 had 558 sales. That’s a 27% increase over last year, and a 67% increase over 2011! In fact we have to go back to June 2011 to find a month where Dane County home sales did not outperform the same month in the previous year.
Median prices have also been up. This July we are at $214,950 while last July we were at $195,000. That’s a 10% increase over last July. So far for the year, median prices in Dane county are averaging a 5% higher than last year.
