Home Build – Week 9
This week the finish work on the interior of our home began. The interior walls were finished with the final sanding, texture, and paint. The painter sprayed the entire interior with one finish color, and we are having our friend Rob at Pickett Precision Painting add a couple touches of color for us. We’ll probably do a little more painting on our own after we move in. However, right now, we were having a hard time making color decisions, and didn’t have time to do much before the trim starts getting installed.
In addition, these week the electrical outlets and switches were hooked up, the fireplace stone was added, and the gutters were installed. We are really looking forward to seeing what the place looks like with cabinetry and trim!
Lastly, we were able to lock interest rates this week. We locked in at 3.75% on a 30 year fixed rate loan! Wow, had you told me rates would be this low 5 years ago, I would have laughed at you. Thanks Ryan at AnchorBank for handling our construction loan (and duplex loans). It’s a great time to buy with low rates and low prices!
On a side note, our neighbors/clients/friends house two doors down is moving along. Their second floor went on this week. Also, our new next door neighbors got a new stamped concrete patio, which looks awesome. I can’t wait for some neighborhood cookouts.
